A New Way To Look For A Lawyer Has Been Introduced

When a legal issue comes up, such as a divorce or landlord-tenant problem, it can be difficult to find a lawyer to address it. The New York State Bar Association has launched a new service, Lawyer Referral and Information Service, which makes it far easier and more convenient. The online portal to this service can be found at https://nysbalris.legal.io, or the service can be reached by phone.

This service gives people a low-pressure way to get in contact with a lawyer that has an office near them and experience in whatever legal issue it is that they face. In order to get a referral, the individual fills in their information along with a description of their problem. This confidential information is then reviewed by the State Bar and the person is given the contact information for a nearby attorney. The referral is free and if the person decided to consult with the lawyer it is $35 for the first 30 minutes. The individual is not obligated to retain the lawyer.

An attorney in New York that is familiar with the State Bar’s new system is Jeremy Goldstein, the Partner of Jeremy L. Goldstein & Associates, LLC. He has been an attorney for 18 years and earned his law degree at the New York University School of Law. He founded his own law firm in June 2014.
