Being a member

It is clear that Christians are expected to be part of a local church - their spiritual home and a community of people who are deeply committed to each other in principle and in practice. Our church has a membership roll that is open to baptised believers over the age of 16 years who are from our sponsoring denominations, and to others approved by the Church meeting.

When a person who is already a member of one sponsoring denomination becomes a member of Bar Hill Church, they become a member of the five denominations for the duration of their membership at Bar Hill. However when people undergo a ceremony of initiation at Bar Hill (i.e. baptism and/or confirmation) they become members of four of the denominations for life, the exception being the Society of Friends which has a different system of membership.

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.

- John 13 v34
